REPORT: Erdogan says encirclement of Afrin to be completed Wednesday night, not capture - source

Turkish President Tayyip's Erdogan's remarks about Turkey's military and its rebel allies capturing the northern Syrian town of Afrin by Wednesday evening referred to the encirclement of the town, a source from his office said.

Erdogan had earlier told local administrators in Ankara he hoped Afrin would fall completely and civilians were being evacuated in cars through a special corridor.

A Syrian Kurdish YPG milita spokesperson, reacting to Erdogan's comments but not the clarification, said he was being unrealistic in predicting Afrin's capture and said Ankara's statements that civilians were being evacuated were false.
