REPORT: HRW condemns eviction of Syrian refugees
The Human Rights Watch condemned on Friday the forcing of hundreds of Syrian refugees to leave their houses in Lebanon and making them return to their homelands in Syria.

The rights group’s comments were made in a report whereby it mentioned that 13 Lebanese municipalities expelled 3664 Syrian refugees from their homes.

It added that the step apparently comes because of their nationality or religion, noting that 42 thousand Syrians could face the same fate.

"Municipalities do not have any legitimate justification for forcibly evicting Syrian refugees,” said Bill Frelick, refugee rights director at Human Rights Watch.

The HRW has spoken to 57 refugees who said that they were subject to violence in order to expel them.

The report also noted that the majority of municipalities where such measures were taken are populated by Christians.
