Residents of Jbeil and Amchit suffer from shortage in water supply

The residents of Jbeil and Amchit have been suffering from a shortage in water supply and from “the rule of the jungle.”

This has intensified when a strike was staged by owners of water wells and water tanks, protesting the Energy and Water Ministry’s call on them to pay the fees imposed on investing these wells.

The ministry gave the water well owners a one-month deadline to install meters and pay a fee of 600 LBP for every one thousand liters of water withdrawn from the wells; a measure deemed “illogical” by the owners.
