Journey of al-Hakim family from Izmir to Greece: Who are the smugglers? What is the family’s fate?

The family of Walid al-Hakim was not meant to arrive to Greece through the boats of illegal immigration.

Walid and his son Abdel Ghani have been transported to a hospital in the Turkish city of Izmir.

The daughter Sanaa, whose whereabouts had been unknown, was also found at the hospital after the family received a photo of her.

The family remains in confusion over the fate of the pregnant mother Baraa al-Kerdi.

However, information made available at the Lebanese Embassy in Ankara say that all the family members are alive and at the hospital, with one person in a critical condition.
