With the first and second rains, the streets of al-Ghbeiry flooded, since the water pump was not functioning and the old sewer is not capable of taking in all the water coming from the capital. And in order to prevent the sewage from reaching al-Ghbriery, the canal was closed next to the State Security center in Beirut.
In the meantime, the sewer pouring in Ramlet al-Bayda and discharging the rain water was being blocked with concrete.
With the closure of these two channels and with the fall of heavy rains, the sewers exploded and flooded the streets with wastewater.
