From under the rubble of Nahr al-Bared camp comes out a story of sacrifice and loyalty that took place on the 12th of July 2007.
Chief of Marine Commandos Regiment then George Shreim told the details of the ambush his group was subject to from three sides at the contact line of the battle.
Three soldiers were killed, the bodies of two were retrieved and one remained under the rubble.
The army attempted repeatedly to retrieve the body of Martyr Melhem al-Mouallem, but was prevented from doing so by the gunmen.
The violence of that day did not end there, as another nearby building collapsed over 5 soldiers from the regiment.
Long hours were endured by soldier Hussein al-Ejel under the wreckage, before emerging with an amputated leg, while the other four were killed under the building.
The army did not leave the martyrs behind, but destroyed all buildings obscuring their visibility in order to recover all the bodies.
