Southern borders, economy focus of Aoun-Hale meeting
President Michel Aoun met on Monday at the Baabda Presidential Palace with US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale, accompanied by the US Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard and a delegation from the embassy.

During the meeting, Aoun said that “the more the United States supports a fair peace process in the Middle East, the calmer the situation in Lebanon will be and the calmer the southern borders will be."

Aoun also noted that “the process of demarcation of the border in the south was delayed,” adding however that it will resume soon.

On another note, Aoun said that Lebanon is in the process of implementing financial and economic reforms by strengthening the productive sectors, in addition to activating the anti-corruption process.

This as the president thanked the US for its continuous support to the Lebanese Armed Forces which is "carrying out its role in preserving Lebanon’s security and stability."

For his part, Hale stressed the US firm support and commitment to a safe, stable and prosperous Lebanon.
