BDL Governor: Our goal is to keep lira exchange rate stable in 2019

Banque Du Liban Governor Riyad Salameh said on Wednesday that the Lebanese bank deposits increased by 3.5% in 2018, adding that the BDL aims at keeping the lira exchange rate stable in 2019.

 

Salameh’s comments were made during the Arab Private Sector Forum whereby he noted that the increase in deposits was in foreign currency, adding however that the deposits in the Lebanese pound are stable and remain unchanged.

 

“The dollarization rate reached 70% in the Lebanese market,” he concluded by saying.
