Assuming that Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil signed on Tuesday the credit accounts for the fuel oil ships for Deir Amar and al-Zahrani power plants, Lebanon will face a major issue related to power supply.
Sources from the Energy Ministry said that opening the credit accounts of LBP 60 billion by the Finance Ministry must be followed by several procedures so that Banque du Liban can release the funds, adding that the ships cannot unload before testing the fuel oil and making sure it complies with the standards.
Consequently, the sources said that the ministry will put the Deir Amar power plant out of service on Tuesday and will be followed by al-Zahrani plant, in case the unloading of the fuel oil got delayed.
