Several Syrian vehicles have been seen crossing al-Masnaa point into Lebanon to fill up their tanks and a number of gallons with gasoline.
This rush for gasoline is the result of a shortage of fuel in Syria and the fact that a Syrian citizen is allowed 20 liters of gasoline every five days.
According to concerned parties, the transport of gasoline from Lebanon to Syrian in private vehicles has not negatively affected the Lebanese market needs.
For his part, Director General of Lebanese Customs Badri Daher told LBCI that this action is not considered as smuggling, explaining that Syrian vehicles are allowed to fill their tanks in addition to a few gallons and cross the border with them since Lebanon does not impose additional customs fees to export products to other countries.
