While Israel was concerned that missiles will land in Tel Aviv during the Eurovision song contest, it did sustain other hits that came in the political form.
In this regard, Madonna surprised the audience and angered the Israeli politicians when she displayed the Palestinian and Israeli flags on two back-up dancers, walking in an embrace.
Similarly, members of the Icelandic Hatari band held up scarf-sized Palestinian flags.
Israel tried to overcome its crises and Netanyahu ignored in his statements the protests that filled the streets of Tel Aviv during the Eurovision contest, overcoming as well the Palestinian hackers who managed to hack the Eurovision broadcasting on the Israeli official channel in Arabic and Hebrew languages, airing instead footage showing missiles from Gaza targeting Israel, with a caption stating that Israel is not safe.
All these factors also caused Israel to lose on the economic level. Due to the announcement of security alert and demonstrations in the streets, Israel did not receive tens of thousands of tourists as expected, but out of a total of 20 thousand seats, only five thousand visitors actually attended.
