Around 300 individuals, including Syrians, Bengalis, Egyptians and others, were evicted from their residences without prior notice, to an unknown fate. The eviction was based on a decision issued by Beirut governor following complaints filed by neighbors.
The evicted individuals were living in a building in the Sanayeh region of Beirut for several years, in very dire and poor conditions.
The building’s owner denies taking rent from them, while the families said that they used to pay between $100 and $400 per month per room, despite the lack of minimum hygiene and humanitarian standards.
