Lebanon imposes fees on foreign workers in new tax measures to increase income

In the budget of 2019, decisions were made concerning the foreign labor force in Lebanon, in a bid to increase income and put an end to tax evasion.

These decisions also amend the fees imposed on violations of illegal labor, entry and residence in Lebanon.

The measures include the closure of unlicensed institutions opened by foreigners, within a municipal range, a mission conducted by the Ministry of Interior and Municipality, where the municipalities will have abide by the Article 46 of the Municipal Law 118, related to closing such businesses.

A fee of LBP 1,000,000 will also be imposed on a foreign worker, whose family resides in Lebanon.

The fine imposed on those who illegally infiltrate into Lebanon and work in an illegitimate way will be raised.
