New conflict between Ain Dara residents and cement factory owners

The sit-in staged by Ain Dara residents in the quarries area in Daher al-Baydar turned into a fight and escalated to throwing rocks and opening fire.

According to the residents, the sit-in came after Pierre Fattouch removed the earth mounds set up by the municipality in order to force the trucks to lower their speed when driving towards the quarries area and the construction site of the cement factory, which has been rejected by the residents.

Military and security reinforcements were called to the location of the fight to separate the protesters from the quarries owners.

However, Pierre Fattouch denied, in a phone call with LBCI, the accusations of the Ain Dara residents, noting that the protesters were the ones who attacked his people and opened fire.
