Beirut chokes on bad smells, as sewage are being directly dumped in sea

The residents of Beirut and Metn have been suffocating from bad smells filling the air, due to sewage and landfills remnants being directly dumped in the sea.

According to a preliminary report released by the Council of Development and Reconstruction, the main cause of the bad smells is sewage, followed by slaughterhouses in Fanar that dumps all leftovers in the river and the sea, slaughterhouses in Choueifat, other factories in Bourj Hammoud, dirt produced by livestock from the port and ships, as well as landfills.
