Defense Minister Elias Bou Saab described the remarks of the Lebanese Forces regarding the issue of the illegal border crossings and smuggling operations as “a political attack against the defense minister.”
In a press conference, Bou Saab reminded the Lebanese Forces party that there is a political decision to control the borders issued by the cabinet and the Higher Defense Council, recounting the Lebanese Armed Forces achievements in this regard.
Bou Saab also recalled the statement of LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun who said that 80% of the Lebanese land borders are under control, explaining that what hinders the complete control over the borders is the lack of a clear demarcation.
