Bassil warns from Rome against chaos in Lebanon
Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil said on Friday that the economic collapse in Lebanon has pushed the Lebanese people from different regions, sects and political affiliations "against the political authorities, which led wrong policies over the past thirty years."

Bassil’s comments were made during the opening of the 5th edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue in Rome whereby he noted that “chaos in Lebanon that some are plotting abroad, will inevitably have results similar to the Syrian crisis.

“Which means the destruction of the country and its institutions, bloodshed, extremism, and displacement towards you,” Bassil added.

He also noted that chaos in Lebanon will create a flaw in internal balances, adding that Lebanon, which is considered “the country of balances,” does not want further flaws.

Bassil also called for helping Lebanon "in removing those meddling in its affairs."

On another note, Bassil noted that Novatec, Total and Eni companies have shown that the oil and gas sector in Lebanon "can be an opportunity for stability and prosperity in the region rather than an opportunity for conflicts and destruction."
