Russia’s Putin and Hariri hold a telephone call-Kremlin
The kremlin said on Thursday that a telephone call was held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri who is visiting Moscow.
 
A statement issued by the Kremlin said that Hariri briefed Putin about the situation in Lebanon as well as the initial measures that are taken to form a new government and to overcome the economic crisis. 
 
The statement added that the Russian side affirmed Moscow’s support of Lebanon's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
 
Talks also reportedly tackled the urgent regional issues and the readiness of both sides to work together in order to create the appropriate conditions for the return of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
 
The statement added that the two sides discussed a number of joint cooperation issues, stressing the need to strengthen the economic and trade ties between the two countries, and to activate contacts between the competent bodies in terms of combating Coronavirus, including supplying Lebanon with the Russian vaccine.
 
Finally, Putin offered his congratulations to Hariri and to all of Lebanon's Muslims for the start of the holy month of Ramadan.
