Abiad: No direct flights to Lebanon from South Africa where new variant Omicron is detected-[REPORT]
Minister of Health Firas Abiad said on Saturday that there are no direct flights to Lebanon from South Africa or surrounding countries where the new Coronavirus variant Omicron has been found.

He went on to say that only a small number of travelers arrive from these countries, and that all people now arriving in Lebanon are subjected to PCR tests.

In a series of tweets, Abiad stated that the Infectious Disease Committee will meet on Monday morning to discuss whether a travel ban should be imposed on travelers from those nations.

“This will allow our experts having discussions with the World Health Organization to better understand and decide what measures should be taken,” he concluded by saying.
