Prime Minister Saad Hariri kicked off his meetings in the US capital Washington with a visit to the Capitol where he met with Staff Director at Senate Armed Services Committee Chris Brose, Policy Director at US Senate Committee on Armed Services Matthew Donovan as well as a number of officials in the presence of Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and Banque Du Liban Governor Riad Salameh.
PM Hariri addressed Senator John McCain, the head of the committee, and stressed the need to strengthen the US-Lebanese relations.
“Lebanon is facing many challenges, but enjoys stability despite the wars raging in the region,” he said, adding that Lebanon remains an example for moderation and needs to be preserved to protect the minorities of the region.
He noted that the most important challenges that Lebanon faces are the security situation and the refugee crisis.
