The Turkish army and allied Syrian rebels have besieged the town of Afrin, 90 villages and a nearby town, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Tuesday, confirming the Turkish military's statement that it had encircled the area.
Observatory Director Rami Abdulrahman said the only road out of the area was in range of Turkish fire, and was therefore impassable. He said 700,000 people were now under siege.
