Yazidi girl comes face-to-face with former IS captor in the streets of Germany

A Yazidi girl, who was sold into slavery in Mosul by Islamic State in 2014 at age 15 but escaped later, has fled Germany after running into her captor on the streets of Schwäbisch Gmünd, a town in Baden-Württemberg.

Ashwak went to Germany after escaping with her family in 2015 through a program aimed at assisting Yazidi women who had been subjected to violence by ISIS.

But while attempting to leave her past behind, she encountered her abuser, who had kept her as a slave, raped her and beat her repeatedly.
