Ethiopia inaugurates Africa’s first waste-to-energy facility

Ethiopia inaugurated on Sunday the first waste-to-energy facility in the continent of Africa, in the presence of high-level Ethiopian and foreign dignitaries.

 

The plant, which was fully funded by the Ethiopian government, expected to process 1,400 tons of solid waste on a daily basis.

 

Located in Addis Ababa, it was constructed by China National Electrical Engineering Company (CNEEC).
