Nasrallah says Hezbollah will stay in Syria, even after settlement in Idlib

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stated Wednesday that “while all the parties speak of the dangerous economic and social situation in Lebanon, there’s still obstruction and deadlock in the cabinet formation process,” stressing that no one can exclude the other.

In a speech he delivered on the 9th day of Ashoura, Nasrallah said that an atmosphere of internal tension has been prevailing in Lebanon, stressing the need to preserve calm amid the discussions held to reach an agreement over the cabinet.

Sayyed Nasrallah also tackled “some parties’ calls to abstain from interfering in the region’s affairs under the slogan of the disassociation policy,” pointing out that this is a crucial matter of disagreement.

“Is Lebanon in fact separated from the events of the region?” he asked, noting that these events are fateful for all the Lebanese people.

In this context, he said that since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, the majority of the Lebanese political forces have been intervening in all that they can; emphasizing that Lebanon’s fate should be made in Lebanon.

The party’s chief reiterated Hezbollah’s commitment to the content of the electoral program, starting with fighting corruption, expressing support for legislation of urgent matters.

He stated that the party will submit draft laws aiming at fighting corruption and regulating employment in Lebanon.

Commenting on Israel’s violation of the Lebanese airspace, Nasrallah said that “as Lebanese, we must think of how we can stop these actions.”

On the issue of the Syrian refugees, he revealed that there are some local factions scaring the refugees in order to stop them from returning to Syria.

“Who seeks a demographic change in Lebanon and Syria; us or the states and political factions preventing the refugees from returning to their homeland?”

On the Israeli violations against Syria, Hezbollah chief said that many of these attacks have nothing to do with transporting weapons to Hezbollah, considering that Israel is working on preventing Syria from acquiring missile capabilities.

He stressed that Hezbollah will stay in Syria even after the settlements in Idlib, explaining that this decision is linked to the need and approval of the Syrian leadership.

Nasrallah noted that the events taking place in Palestine have implications in Lebanon. “Does ‘the deal of the century’ that seeks to strengthen and enhance Israel in the region serve the interests of the Lebanese people?” he asked.

On the United States’ intervention in the affairs of the region’s states, Sayyed Nasrallah asked: “Is it in the interest of the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples to abolish the right to return and shut down the UNRWA?”

"The real ruler in some Arab and Islamic states is the US ambassador," he stated.

He continued by addressing the region’s states: “Does any of you dare to issue a statement condemning the United States’ intervention in your internal affairs?”

In this regard, Nasrallah said that the United States created the Islamic State and all the US allies in the region supported this group, “because the US seeks to destabilize Iraq to create an excuse to send back its forces after they withdrew.”

“Will strengthening Israel to exercise more arrogance serve the interests of the region’s peoples?” he asked.

On the war in Yemen, Hezbollah’s chief stated that Saudi Arabia started the war on Yemen and defined the targets, sponsored and supported by the US until today.

On another note, Nasrallah said that the most dangerous thing happening now is the psychological and moral warfare against the party’s mission.

“We must fight all the defamation campaigns waged on Hezbollah, both on the internal and external levels,” he urged.
