Railway project connecting Iran to Mediterranean through Iraq kicks off

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani gave his orders to kick off the works on the first phase of a railway project connecting Iran to the Mediterranean.

 

The first phase of the railway links Shalamjah in Iran to Basra in Iraq. It measures 32 kilometers and costs 2200 billion Rials.

 

The Shalamjah railway that goes to Basra will continue the trail to the city of al-Bukamal on the Syrian borders, then to Deir al-Zor and all the way to Latakia.
