On August 29, the United Nations Security Council is expected to renew the mandate of the UN Interim Forces in Lebanon south of the Litani into a key mission, which includes the implementation of the resolution 1701.
However, Lebanon wants the renewal to take place without any amendments to the nature of the mission, the budget or the number of forces, which should be 15 thousand soldiers but is now 12500.
