Spain reopened its embassy in Kyiv on Friday, after having closed it as soon as Russia invaded Ukraine, according to the Spanish government, while London announced that it would take the same step next week.
"At 14:00 local time (13:00 Spanish time), the consular mission headed by the Spanish ambassador to Ukraine, Silvia Cortés, reopened the Spanish embassy in Kyiv," with the support of special police forces, said the Spanish Ministry of the Interior in a press statement.
Madrid has evacuated its ambassador and the diplomatic staff of its embassy from the Ukrainian capital to Poland, a day after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
Earlier this week, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez had announced this move.
