The Iraqi parliament's presidency called on Sunday for a meeting on Monday to agree on a date for a session to elect a new president of the republic.
The statement came a day after a coordinating framework close to Iran called on the House of Representatives to hold a session this week to elect the president of the republic, reiterating its call for Kurdish parties to intensify their dialogues and agree on the president of the republic or on the mechanism for his selection before holding the parliamentary session, and that in order to expedite the completion of the requirements for government formation.
