Saudi Arabia threatens Lebanon TV station “LBCI” - WikiLeaks
"Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Asiri told his country’s foreign ministry back in 2012 that LBCI, a Lebanese TV station, is broadcasting fabricated news about the Kingdom," Al-Akhbar newspaper quoted a WikiLeaks documents as saying.

“LBCI reported that President Michel Sleiman asked Saudi foreign minister Saud al-Faisal to mediate with Israel over the Shebaa Farms,” Asiri said in a letter to the Saudi foreign ministry, as quoted by the newspaper.

The Saudi ambassador considered that the station’s broadcasting of such news about the Kingdom violates “generally accepted rules” followed by some Lebanese channels, the daily reported.

The ambassador also briefed the Saudi foreign ministry on the reasons behind the station’s act, saying “LBCI’s positions became influenced by the ongoing conflict between [Saudi] prince Alwaleed bin Talal and LBCI's Chairman Pierre El Daher”.

Accordingly, Asiri suggested exerting pressure on the TV channel "if it goes too far" in its positions against the Kingdom, through “Choueiri Group”, an advertising company.

“Choueiri Group is a Lebanese advertising company that has large interests in the Kingdom and that controls a significant part of the advertising market in Lebanon,” the ambassador explained, as quoted by Al-Akhbar
