Patriarch Rai: significant part of solution lies in “separating religion from the state”

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai said on Saturday that the terrorist organizations that are working on destroying the Middle East region aim at destroying the “moderate Islam” achieved by the coexistence with the Christians.

 

Patriarch Rai added that a significant part of the solution lies in “separating religion from the state and implementing internal reforms in the Arab regimes based on democracy.

 

He also called on the International community to impose an end of hostilities in the Middle East fed by foreign countries and to contribute in the Iranian-Saudi rapprochement.

 

As for the Syrian displaced in Lebanon, Patriarch Rai asserted that the country cannot tolerate this burden, in addition to the repercussions of the Palestinian crisis.
