Response to attacks: US forces conduct 'unilateral strike' killing key Kata'ib Hezbollah commander in Iraq

The US Central Command stated that on February 7, at 9:30 p.m. (Baghdad Time), the command's forces conducted a "unilateral strike in Iraq in response to the attacks on US service members, killing a Kata'ib Hezbollah commander responsible for directly planning and participating in attacks on US forces in the region."

It affirmed that no indications suggest "collateral damage or civilian casualties at this time."

The Central Command also reported, in a post on the X platform, that the "United States will continue to take necessary action to protect our people. We will not hesitate to hold responsible all those who threaten our forces' safety."
