.6 Yesterday, @mophleb reported the incidence of #Covid19 per 100,000 has reached 265, a new record. Daily new cases in the past week were consistently above 1000. Clearly, 🇱🇧 is still struggling with Covid, numbers are rising. However, last week also brought some welcome news. pic.twitter.com/7BM5gVhXHb — Firass Abiad (@firassabiad) October 2, 2020

.6 Yesterday, @WHOLebanon reported 🇱🇧 reached 84% ICU occupancy out of a 200 total. This is why the agreement reached between @mophleb and the private hospitals on Covid care renumeration is important. More private beds, especially ICU, should soon become available. pic.twitter.com/JRjHxdPRpX — Firass Abiad (@firassabiad) October 2, 2020

.6 Efforts at improving the quality of care at public hospitals are also underway. This is exemplified by training offered by @UKMed_NGO and @WHOLebanon at Saida and Baabda. This will also help in expanding the ICU capacity further, as more staff gets trained. #UKaid pic.twitter.com/pMpJxMxfgF — Firass Abiad (@firassabiad) October 2, 2020

.6 Last week also witnessed the introduction of a new classification for #Covid19 incidence based on district (Kaza). This will help identify hotspots and a more focused approach to restrictive measures. This can be a good alternative to the unpopular total lockdown. pic.twitter.com/4OvEWG9bkd — Firass Abiad (@firassabiad) October 2, 2020

.6 In summary, 🇱🇧 still has a long and hard struggle as it aims to regain control of the #Covid19 situation. The positivity rate is still high. Schools are still closed. Healthcare workers are overworked. But let us acknowledge good news when it happens, we desperately need it. — Firass Abiad (@firassabiad) October 2, 2020
