We haven’t really. After the Port explosion, the British Embassy withdrew the children who were here. The former Ambassador understandably didn’t want to stay separated from his family so took what I know was a tough decision to return to the UK 1/3 — Martin Longden (@MlongdenUK) February 4, 2021

The UK strongly believes that the roll out of the vaccination programme needs to be done on a global basis – because none of us is safe until all of us is safe. And that includes Lebanon of course. 1/3 — Martin Longden (@MlongdenUK) February 4, 2021

I was shocked by the distressing news of the murder of Lokman Slim. The authorities must conduct a swift and transparent investigation, and find those responsible. I will follow this issue very closely. All voices in Lebanon, including of critics, must be protected. No impunity. — Martin Longden (@MlongdenUK) February 4, 2021
