President Aoun: Lebanon must not be dragged into regional wars

President Joseph Aoun said the firing of rockets from Lebanese territory at dawn on Monday undermines the efforts undertaken by the Lebanese state to keep the country away from the dangerous military confrontations unfolding across the region.

Aoun warned that Lebanon has long cautioned against the repercussions of such conflicts and repeatedly called for restraint and a responsible national approach that prioritizes the country’s higher national interest above all else.

While condemning the Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, the president stressed that turning Lebanon once again into a platform for “support wars” unrelated to its own interests would expose the country to renewed risks.

He said those who ignore repeated calls to preserve security and stability would bear responsibility for dragging Lebanon into further danger. The state, he added, will not allow a repeat of past scenarios, nor will the Lebanese people accept it, as “they are still working to heal the wounds caused by previous confrontations.”
