Lebanese Rima Ghandour appointed as state judge in Oregon, USA

Lebanese are known for realizing achievements in their communities broad. This time, the Lebanese Rima Ibrahim Ghandour was appointed to serve as a judge on the Multnomah County Circuit Court in Oregon, United States of America. She filled a vacancy created by the elevation of her predecessor, Judge Stephen Bushong, to the Oregon Supreme Court.

A Muslim Arab, Ghandour immigrated to the United States at 18. She practiced at Dorband Law Group in Lake Oswego, joined the Wiles Law Group in Portland, and then started her general civil litigation practice in 2013, focusing on construction defect litigation, class action lawsuits, insurance defense, and personal injury claims.

Rima graduated from Colgate University and the University of San Diego Law School. She serves on the board of directors for Oregon Women Lawyers, Oregon Law Foundation, the Arab American Cultural Center of Oregon, and many other organizations. She was also previously president of the Multnomah Bar Association.

In light of the current blockage in the Lebanese judiciary and the abhorrent political clientelism, the Lebanese diaspora is continuing their fight for justice.
