Haroun to LBCI: The financial crisis turned into nightmare and we could be heading towards a disaster in health sector

Association of Private Hospitals head Sleiman Haroun stressed that the strike staged on Friday comes as an inclusive warning at all hospitals, noting that the financial crisis turned into a nightmare because the importers of medical equipment are unable to import.

In told LBCI that they have witnessed a shortage in materials, adding that they have a deadline of one month or one month and half at the latest before a disaster at the healthcare sector hits.

Answering a question on the hospitals’ failure to provide chemotherapy, Haroun stated that the medicine is available in the market but the traders are not delivering to the hospitals, because they are not capable of paying their prices.
