REPORT: Health Minister Abou Faour says adamant on combating "mafias" linked to food safety file
Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour said on Wednesday that he asked the concerned judiciary to tackle the food safety file at Beirut International Airport.

He also stressed that he is adamant on "combating the mafias linked to the food safety file," adding that he thanks the ministry’s inspectors for improving the quality of food in Lebanon.

Abou Faour stressed that he will reveal more food safety results, voicing hopes that most of them will be positive.

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour has been launching a campaign against corruption detected in restaurants and supermarkets in regards to food safety standards, and has made public several lists of violating restaurants and supermarkets underscoring the types of unfit foods being sold.

Following the food corruption scandal, the Health Ministry has touched on a new file, ordering the closure of many beauty centers that operate without official supervision.

Abou Faour’s campaign has also tackled the file of water quality.

The minister, who has received the support of many political forces, vowed to push ahead with his campaign, and stressed the need to protect Lebanese citizens.
