French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to rebuild Notre-Dame cathedral after a blaze devastated large parts of the gothic gem on Monday.
In a speech at the scene, Macron said Notre-Dame was France's history, literature and destiny, and that the historic landmark would be rebuilt together and with the greatest talents from across border.
Following Macron’s declaration, donations started pouring in, reaching nearly 1 billion euros, including a 200 million euros donation from Bernard Arnault and 100 million from Francois Pinault, heads of luxury goods groups LVMH and Kering respectively.
The city of Paris donated 50 million euros. Meanwhile, fundraising campaign kicked off in the United States.

“Fondation du Patrimoine” organization, tasked with protecting the French patrimony, answered the question, saying that it is still early to determine the exact cost, estimating the restoration works to cost at least hundreds of millions of dollars.
