Mikati: Some parties seek to plunge Lebanon into the abyss

PM Najib Mikati said on Tuesday that there are several parties who desire to involve Lebanon in the current conflict, despite the "warnings and red flags".
Mikati urged the "peaceful" residents of Tripoli not to allow anyone to drag them into the battles that don’t produce anything but murder and destruction".

“Don’t let others turn you into their pawns”, he said.

Mikati pointed out that he had asked the Army Command and the Security Forces to exert all possible efforts to bring the clashes to an end. He also called on the political opponents in Tripoli to cease all biddings on the citizens’ blood, describing this act as "shameful".
