ISF inspection unit thwarts attempt to smuggle 35 kilos of Captagon

The Internal Security Forces declared on Sunday that it seized more than 35 kilograms of Captagon narcotic pills at Beirut International Airport.

“Following a search operation carried out on Saturday, the inspection unit made a new achievement by thwarting an attempt to smuggle 200,500 Captagon pills weighing around 35.6 kilograms,” the ISF added in a statement.

The pills were hidden in “39 coffee packets and covered with sweets in four suitcases.”

Syrian travelers A. A., 25, and M. A., 22, were trying to smuggle the pills into an Arab Gulf country, the statement added.

The two Syrian nationals were arrested, and the confiscated pills were referred to the Central Anti-Drug Bureau for additional investigations.
