Beirut based super car debuts at $3.4 million

A Beirut based supercar developed by W Motors has just stolen the spotlight from the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports, as the most expensive car with a price tag of $3.4 million.

The new Lykan Hypersport supercar, co-developed by W Motors with help from German tuner RUF Automobile and Canadian-Austro parts supplier Magna Steyr Italia, is limited to a seven-unit production run and sold mostly to Arab customers, the automaker said.

The W Motors Lykan Hypersport uses a 750-horsepower twin-turbocharged flat-six-cylinder to get to 100 km/h from zero in about 2.8 seconds.

Top speed is roughly 395 km/h (245 mph), CarBuzz reported.

For three-and-a-half-million dollars, buyers get a car with a carbon-fiber chassis; gold-plated hood; diamond-encrusted LED taillights; and a Star Wars-like fully functional interactive holographic display. The purchase price also includes a $200,000 Special Edition Cyrus Klepcys watch.

The Lykan Hypersport, the Arab world's first supercar, debuted late January at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show.

Sheikh Juaan Ben Hamad, the son of Qatari prince Hamad Ben Khalifa al-Thani purchased the car, becoming  the  proud owner of the first Arab hot rod.
