PM Salam discusses displacement crisis in Iqlim al-Kharroub amid influx from South Lebanon

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met a delegation from Iqlim al-Kharroub, including former MP Mohammad al-Hajjar, religious representatives and municipal officials, to discuss the growing displacement crisis caused by ongoing attacks in southern Lebanon.

Following the meeting, al-Hajjar said the region has received around 180,000 displaced people — a figure exceeding the area’s original population — placing major humanitarian, social, security and economic pressures on local communities and municipalities.

He added that officials raised concerns over the limited financial capacities of municipalities to cope with the increasing burden, noting that Salam pledged to follow up on the issue and work on possible solutions.
