PM Salam meets Lahbib, discusses EU cooperation on humanitarian relief and emergency response in Lebanon

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib and her accompanying delegation at the Grand Serail, in the presence of Social Affairs Minister Haneen Sayyed and the head of the Disaster Risk Management Unit, Zahi Shahin.

Talks focused on the humanitarian situation in Lebanon and ways to enhance cooperation between Lebanon and the European Union in relief and emergency response, amid ongoing Israeli attacks and their humanitarian impact.

Lahbib reaffirmed the EU’s continued support for Lebanon, particularly in the humanitarian field, stressing the importance of ongoing coordination with relevant Lebanese authorities.

For his part, Prime Minister Salam thanked the European Union for its continuous support and praised the existing coordination, stressing the need to strengthen international assistance for humanitarian response and to support the Lebanese state in facing current challenges.
