What delays legalization of cannabis cultivation in Lebanon?

While the Lebanese Parliament is still discussing a draft law pertaining to the legislations required to legalize cannabis cultivation, the Israeli government approved a law to allow medical cannabis exports amid fears that it could lead to more recreational use of the drug.

The same concerns in Lebanon have been delaying the referral of the draft law to the parliament, where it must be discussed and put to vote.

It is worth noting that, despite its illegitimacy in Lebanon, the country is the world’s third largest cannabis producer, after Morocco and Afghanistan, and the Bekaa Valley is considered among the world’s main regions for cannabis production.
