PM Salam from Egypt: Lebanon is fighting a fierce battle against terrorism

Prime Minister Tammam Salam attended on Friday the Sharm el-Sheikh economic conference whereby he noted that “Lebanon more than any other country knows the meaning of a serious economic hardship.”

“However, we have come with open hands to announce our faith in Egypt's role, army, people and all active forces,” he said in a speech delivered at the conference.

Salam saluted the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, “who is wisely and competently assuming a hard mission during one of the most difficult times in Egypt and the entire Arab world.”

On another note, Salam noted in his speech that Lebanon is fighting a fierce battle against terrorism, adding that the country succeeded in it “with the help our army, security apparatuses and our brother countries.”

“We are monitoring what Egypt is going through at the hands of the forces of extremism and darkness,” he added.

Gulf Arab allies pledged on Friday a further $12 billion of investments and central bank deposits for Egypt at an international summit, a big boost to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as he tries to reform the economy after years of political upheaval.
