Minister De Freij to LBCI: Waste management crisis halts cabinet convention

Administrative Development Minister Nabil De Freij said on Sunday that the establishment of an incinerator in the Metn town of Dhour Shweir needs the approval of the land’s owner where the incinerator will be placed.

De Frej’s comments were made during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show whereby he noted that Minister of Agriculture Akram Chehayeb previously noticed that such incinerator needs also an approval from the Minister of Industry.

He added that the waste management crisis is the major issue halting a cabinet convention.

For his part, Minister of Education Elias Bou Saab said during a phone call that those who are questioning the legality of the work carried out by Dhour Shweir’s municipality concerning the establishment of the incinerator must refer to the concerned courts.

In turn, former Minister Fadi Abboud asserted during a phone call with the show that the incinerator entered Lebanon legally.
