Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea announced on Thursday the nomination of Minister Pierre Bou Assi for one of the Maronite parliamentary seats in Baabda.
Geagea’s comments were made during a press conference whereby he tackled the Cabinet’s approval on the oil and gas exploration decree, congratulating the Lebanese people for the “achievement” that will open up different prospects for the country’s economy.
Geagea voiced hopes that the Ministry of Energy and Water would take into consideration of the tenders department’s remarks to prepare a new rulebook that offers the required transparency, competitiveness, and integrity.
He also added that the present electricity bid with a rulebook that is set for a particular company, will not be approved by the LF.
On another note, Geagea stressed that the LF wants the country’s tourism to be active, adding that such tourism should not only be limited to the likes of Qais al-Khazali, leader of the Iraqi paramilitary group Asaib Ahl al-Haq’s visit to Lebanon’s borders.
“The LF wants a state that acts upon its declarations, a just state that does not allow having any other weapons than its own, and an active economic state that does not count on foreign funds and donations,” Geagea added.
