Lebanon suggests naming Arab League summit “Golan Summit”-sources to LBCI
Sources told LBCI on Sunday that the speech of President Michel Aoun at the Arab League summit in Tunis will demand from the Arabs a clear position on the US decision over the Golan Heights.
This as sources added that President Aoun will demand Syria’s return to the Arab league and will renew Lebanon’s stance stating the Syrian refugees as a sole solution.
The sources also noted that Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil held a long meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart on the sidelines of the summit.
According to the same sources, the Lebanese delegation intensified its consultations so the summit would end up with a strong stance that rejects the US decision.
The sources also told LBCI that during the preliminary ministerial meetings, Lebanon proposed naming the summit the "Golan Summit," however the proposal did not receive the support of the majority.
