Abadi: Iran remains keen on solidarity among Lebanese

Maronite Archbishop of Beirut Boulos Matar met on Monday with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi.

The two discussed various local and regional issues, among them the Syrian crisis and the Iranian peace initiative proposed to find a political solution in Syria.

Following the meeting, Abadi commented on the electoral law issue and said that it is an internal Lebanese debate, stressing that Iran is keen on enhancing national unity and solidarity among all the Lebanese people during the rough times the region is witnessing.

On the Lebanese pilgrims kidnapped in Aazaz, Abadi stressed that his country is against abduction, hoping the detainees will be released soon. “There are Iranians kidnapped in Syria as well by similar groups who are 'preaching democracy,'" he added.
