Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil inaugurated an office for the party in Bcharri on Sunday.
“When we passed the new electoral law, our priority was the oppressed minorities,” he stated.
“In order for Bcharri to win in the electoral polls, we have sacrificed our rights in the regions of Metn, Keserwan and Jbeil, focusing our attention on ensuring that the minorities receive their proper share," he continued.
Speaking from Becharri, Bassil stressed that the Christians are an example for democracy and pluralism, adding that he feels responsible to preserve the strength of the community, “even if it was at the expense of the FPM.”
